Our Approach:

We are thesis driven investors that make long-term, high-conviction investments in category defining crypto companies and protocols across public and private markets.

We partner with founders at the inception stage and continue supporting our portfolio of investments over time.

We take a deeply hands-on approach to help projects reach their full potential, from the technical (smart contract security, engineering) to the operational (recruiting, regulatory strategy).

We aspire to build projects that affect positive change and advance meaningful solutions.

We believe that passionate Web3 entrepreneurs and builders choose crypto because the architecture matters a lot more than getting rich quickly.

Our Team:

Shahar Abrams

Managing Partner

Shahar Abrams is a blockchain industry professional who led enterprise blockchain deployments at IBM and product development at Rodo to bring car titles onto the blockchain. He is one of the few people to straddle the “traditional” enterprise blockchain world and the more well-known public-blockchain space also referred to as crypto.

After years of perfecting his investing strategy and ethos in crypto Shahar retired from IBM at the age of 29 and started Road to Babylon to help share his no-hype, principles-based approach to investing in the newest and most promising asset class the world has ever seen – cryptoassets.

Brent Gillett

Prior to co-founding Broadchain Capital, Brent was an active angel investor in various technology-oriented ventures. He was also the managing partner of Investment Law Group, where he represented numerous private investment funds with digital asset focused investment programs.  He is a founding partner of Cipher Chain Capital, a DeFi focused investment firm and oversees corporate development at Adamnite, a Layer 1 blockchain whose mission is to make Web3 more accessible.  In 2015, he co-founded Simcore, a healthcare software company that was subsequently sold to a venture-backed spinout of a large healthcare institution. Prior to beginning his legal and entrepreneurial endeavors, Brent worked as an equity analyst at Marquis Capital Management. He received his Juris Doctorate from Vanderbilt School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from Duke University.

Brian Connell

Brian began his career as a stockbroker, but soon moved on to his role as a sell-side analyst covering the technology sector at Preferred Capital Markets in San Francisco, CA.  While there, he founded StreetFusion to streamline the earnings season process for both issuers and capital markets participants.  In just two years Brian grew the company to over 100 team members while raising $3 million in three angel rounds and $14 million in a venture round led by Blue Chip Ventures.  After merging with its only competitor StreetEvents, the Company was sold to Thomson Financial for $132 million in cash in 2003.

In 2005 Brian began Harbinger Research, a contract equity research boutique focused on helping small-cap and micro-cap companies objectively present their businesses, often for the purposes of more effectively raising capital.  In addition to his work for Harbinger, Brian has served as an outsourced CFO, financial modeler, management consultant, and fundraising consultant.  Most recently, Brian held the role of Director and CFO, and then CEO, of ChallengerX PLC, a public influence-based marketing company listed on London’s Aquis Stock Exchange (AQSE: CXS).
